What is what and how to use it?

The variety of different terms and functions can be very troublesome for everybody. Here you can learn what is their meaning and how to use them.

Impressions

Impressions are advertisements that had been displayed on the website by the user. Every impression is counted for the statistical purposes, but user is not charged for them. Mostly it is used to calculate the click-through factor.

Click

Click itself is the most important event in the PPC business. Every time the user clicks your advertisement we call it the Click. There are few kinds of clicks but mostly those good and those bad and the system which watches over to count only those good ones. This is the insurance for your investment - the ClicksuranceT

Clicksurance ™

This is the most sophisticated system implemented directly into the very heart of the NDot.com service. All activity in- or out- going from the service is constantly monitored to ensure the that the traffic is unique. Every single click is traced from the point of origin (user) all the way to the advertisers web site and further by conversion tracking. To prevent any fraud attempts all machinery-driven traffic is eliminated and you are paying for the real stuff.

Click through rate

This is the ratio between impressions and actual clicks. The greater the ratio is the more people who have seen your advertisement clicked on it.

Ad position

The position on which your advertisement is placed at the site when it is displayed. Normally it is an auction based system - you can set the amount of money you are willing to pay for a certain position, but if somebody overbids you he will take that position. Normally the bidding is toughest for the first four places so if you want your advertisement to be displayed on the top position, you have to be alert, and monitor your ads from time to time.

Cost per click

The cost for a single, valid click committed upon your advertisement. By default this is the cost you are setting up as Default Max-Cost-Per-Click for a whole Advertisement but if you like to you can change it for every single keyword.

Conversion

Conversion is the ratio stating the efficiency of the advertisement. It is measured by conversion tracking system. In other words it says how many people who clicked your advertisement took a desired action on your site: bought something, registered themselves or any other function you predicted for them.

Conversion tracking

Conversion tracking is a system used by the PPC services to track and calculate the true conversion ratio for your advertisement - to let you know how good do they work.

How does it work

Conversion tracking system is based on two different but short PHP scripts. One of them allows us to register whether the user, after clicking the advertisement, was redirected to your site. The other one is to register any committed deeds: shopping, registrations etc. In this way you will be able how much of the visitors, who were directed to your site by the advertisement, actually used it.

How to configure it

It is very simple: in the main menu under conversion tracking there are two scripts available. The first one, for entrance data trace, will be stored on your disk under the name: init.zip. The second one, used for the confirmation saved under: confirm.zip. After downloading and unpacking those scripts, you have implement them as following: init.php - has to be implemented into your landing site or main site of the web service (depends to which site the advertisement is leading); confirm.php - into the "good bye after shopping" site (or similar site, which is displayed after user had served his purpose).

Budget

Daily budget

Daily budget is set for the campaign purposes. It describes how much money from your account can be deducted in order to keep the campaign up and running. After depletion of the funds for the campaign, it will seize to be displayed until the next day. In order not to stop your campaign prematurely you have to set the threshold wisely.

Overall budget

Overall budget is better known as your account balance. All the activity on your account will be seized upon funds depletion. NDot.com does not approve any debt on the users account.

Destination URL (landing page)

That is the web address your advertisement is redirecting to. For instance if you have different electronic stuff and your advertisement will be about 52" Plasma TV your landing page should be the subpage with those advertised TV's not your main website. This way the user will be directly placed in the place he was looking for. Appropriate choice of a landing page can result in increase of the conversion!

Billed clicks

The clicks, which had been validated by our ClicksuranceT system and recognized by legitimate, human-committed actions.

Unbilled Clicks

All those which failed the verification by the ClicksuranceT system and there is a suspicion that they are connected with fraud activities etc.

Account

Who can get it?

There are no restrictions in using the service but one - you have to be in the legal age over eighteen (18). Thanks to our cutting-edge technology you can manage several advertisement campaigns. You don't need a separate accounts. It is allowed to create one account for one valid e-mail address.

Who can access it?

The access to your account is given only to you (besides the system administrator, of course). The account is protected by a password of your choice and it is the only way to access the account - therefore the password should fulfill the strong password requirements. You can grant access to the account to anybody, by revealing the login and the password but it is not recommended. The company gives no refunds nor takes no responsibility for any actions taken by an account user (or the one who knew the login and password).

FAQ

How to create an account and what is needed?

To create an account just click the "Sign-in" button under "Advertisers". You will need a login and a secure password and all the regular personal data: first and second name, company (if applies), street, city, postal code, country, phone number and of course valid e-mail address. And you have to agree to the terms and conditions which govern the service.

How to update information on my account?

When you have your account already, all the information along with password can be changed or updated in your profile. You can find it in the main menu on the left.

Under "Fund account" on the main menu, there are displayed several payment methods for you to choose

Campaign

Campaign is the first of three levels in building your advertisement venture. It is used to hold together groups of advertisements. If you are planning to develop separate marketing ventures for different companies you would like to group them into campaigns - each campaign for one company. As a new user the system creates a default campaign for you to ease you a bit. If you need more here's the way:

Create a campaign

In the main menu on the left click "New campaign" then type it's name into the blank field, set daily budget and click save. You have added a new campaign to your account. Another way is to click the button "Add campaign" on the upper right side of the site - the effect will be the same. Just that "New campaign" button is available from all over the service.

Managing a campaign

If you need to pause, resume or delete the campaign you have to mark the checkbox next to the campaign which state you want to change. To edit use the checkbox in the same manner.

Ad group

Ad group (Advertisement group) is the second of three levels in the advertisement venture. It was meant to group the advertisements into the groups to help in their management process. For instance you can group advertisements with similar subjects or for different branches of the company you are promoting.

Create an advertisement group

First you have to enter the campaign you have created - to do so just click on its name. Then click the "Add Advertisement Group" button in the upper right side of the site - the same place where the "Add campaign" button was. The procedure is almost the same as with the campaign creation - type the name into the blank box at the field below it is possible to choose different campaign that the one you have entered - if you wish so, you can choose the campaign in the box over the save button. When you are done - just click save.

Manage an advertisement group

Advertisement group management is done the same way as the campaign. Just select the desired group, mark the checkbox and choose the option from the blue buttons at the top.

Advertisement

The last - third level of your advertisement venture is the advertisement itself. You have to choose the text which will appear on the advertisement along with it's title and the web site it will be leading to.

Create an advertisement

When you are in the campaign click on the desired campaign name, and if it's empty, you will be redirected to the advertisement creation site. If there are already some advertisements in the group just click the "Add New Advertisement" button in the usual place - upper- right corner.

Scan Website

This field is made to automate the adding process - type there a name of a site you want to promote then click "Scan". The headline and other information will be scanned and put into appropriate brackets.

Headline

This is the title of your new advertisement - by default it will be the same a s the title from the web site you entered but you can change it freely.

Description

Short, accurate and eye-catching and coherent description of what you are advertising. On this what your success will depend on so take your time and be sure is the best it can be.

Display URL

The address which will be displayed - this should be your main address - short, and not easy to forget.

Destination URL

This is the landing page for your advertisement. By default it is the same as "Display URL" but if you are advertising only a part of your service it is wise to put there accurate link to this part no to the main site.

Default position

Auction means that the position will depend on the amount of money you, and other competing for this place, are willing to pay. The higher the price the higher the place. Of course the position can be set for a certain place but the bidding rules still apply - if someone overbids you your advertisement will drop in the ranks.

Default Max-Cost-Per-Click

Is the default value you are willing to pay for every keyword in the advertisement. Of course it is wise to adjust that value to match the word importance.

Edit an advertisement

To administrate the single advertisement there is whole set of options available such as Edit, Pause, Resume and Remove at the top of each advertisement. By blue "Edit" button you will be redirected to the advertisement creation site - where you can add, change or remove keywords, adjust advertisement text etc. If you want to edit settings for a certain keyword or words you have to mark the checkboxes besides them and then click "Edit selected keyword settings" button on the upper-right corner.

Keyword

Keyword is the most important part of the advertisement because that is the element which will allow your advertisement to be found and, of course, that is the element you are bidding for.

Single or multiple keyword edition

By marking the checkbox beside the keyword or keywords you will be able to adjust their position or "Max-Cost-Per-Click" value. To add or delete a keyword you have to edit whole advertisement.

Phase match

For a given phase - in quotation marks, the match of the user query have to be exact in both word and order. For instance phase "online poker" will match with the search "online poker casino" but not with the "poker online".

Broad match

So called "Positive" keyword - for which the system responds in every occurrence besides the context.

Excluded keywords

Those are the "Negative" keywords - if they are in the search string the system will reject it.

Bulk submission

It is possible to input the data into the system in a form of bulk submission manner by the CSV file. The sample CSV file is available on the "Bulk submission" page. You can choose the campaign name and advertisement group and add several advertisements all at once.
